Account Deletion
Last updated · 2 July 2026
This page explains how to delete your TheMug account and the personal data that goes with it — directly in the app, or by sending us a deletion request from this page.
TheMug is the cafe-discovery app operated by GUNASO INCORPORATED, UNIPESSOAL LDA. Both options below apply to accounts created in the TheMug app for iOS and Android.
Delete your account in the app
The fastest way to delete your account is in the app itself, while signed in:
- Open the Profile tab.
- Choose Delete account and confirm.
- For security, you may be asked to sign in again before the deletion runs.
In-app deletion takes effect immediately: your account is removed and the app returns to a signed-out state.
Request deletion without the app
If you have uninstalled the app or can no longer sign in, request deletion here instead. Send the request from the email address linked to your account — we may contact you to verify you own the account before deleting it.
Prefer email? Write to privacy@jointhemug.com from the address linked to your account and ask us to delete it.
What is deleted and what is kept
When your account is deleted:
- Your account, profile (handle and display name), saved cafes and Collections, comments, and sign-in connections (email, Google or Apple) are deleted.
- Search history tied to your account is anonymised so it no longer identifies you.
- Billing records are de-identified and kept only as required for accounting and tax.
- Product analytics are scrubbed of direct identifiers; the remaining events no longer link back to you.
Full detail on retention periods is in our Privacy Policy.
Subscriptions
Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription. Manage or cancel subscriptions in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) before or after deleting your account.
